sustainable farm grown ingredients

The North Fork of Long Island is known for its bucolic countryside with endless stretches of land, bountiful vineyards and iconic potato barns. The 43-acreage farmland of Jamesport Farm Brewery was once a potato farm (owned by the Sydlowski family) in the height of Long Island’s potato farming days. Interestingly, hop plants prefer the same soils as potatoes. Jamesport Farm Brewery is also directly across from John Kujawski & Sons, the largest remaining potato farm on Long Island.

This potato farming heritage is what inspired the “farm brewery” theme that celebrates not only the land’s local history, but the fact that the property remains a modern, sustainable working farm and wholesale nursery. Jamesport Farm Brewery is the only “Farm to Pint” brewery on Long Island that grows and harvests the majority of the ingredients, such as hops and barley, used for its craft beers.

Fresh Hops | Craft Beer
home of the fresh hop fest

Jamesport Farm Brewery is the home of the Long Island Fresh Hop Festival, hosted annually in the fall by LI Hops. Join some of Long Island’s finest breweries where you’ll be able to taste versions of fresh hop beers (some made from hops grown right on site) alongside the traditional version of the same beer. These fresh hop infused beers are special limited-edition versions of your favorite local beers–many of which are not available to the general public. Brewers will be there to explain how their creations came to life, and how they chose what beers to fresh hop.

Owners

locally owned and operated

Partners Anthony Caggiano and Melissa Caggiano started Jamesport Farm Brewery as a way to provide local craft beer made with ingredients grown on site at the farm. They combined 50+ years of nursery growing experience with their passion for artisan beer to create a unique "Farm to Pint Experience."

Melissa and Anthony are extremely dedicated to advocating for a greener, sustainable future. As Certified Nursery Landscape Professionals in the state of New York, they are deeply woven into Long Island’s horticultural industry. They know the horticultural science behind what it takes for plants to successfully thrive in all growing environments – from hop bines, barley fields, to greenhouse nursery production.

The 43-acre farm is also home to LI Hops, which grows and sells hops, and Plant Connection, a wholesale nursery which specializes in growing green walls, green roofs, and other forms of living architecture.

Anthony and Melissa are also very active in numerous local, state, and national organizations including the New York State Brewers Association, the New York Farm Bureau, the New York State Nursery & Landscape Association, the Long Island Nursery & Landscape Association, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, and Living Architecture New York. In 2017, the Long Island Nursery & Landscape Association honored Anthony Caggiano and Melissa Caggiano as the 53rd Annual Man & Woman of the Year!
